Under the Transparency in Coverage Final Rule from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, health insurers and self-funded health benefit plans are required to make machine-readable files (MRFs) available on a public website. These files must include:
- Negotiated rates for all covered services with in-network providers
- Historical payments and billed charges from out-of-network providers
The MRFs will provide the public with access to health plan payment information, aiding in the understanding of pricing and costs for healthcare services. Accessing these files is free and does not require a user account, password, or any personal information like a name, email address, or phone number. Click on the link below for access to the appropriate files.
